about

Since I was about twelve I've wanted to be a designer of one type or another and for the last 15 years I've been doing print, 3d animation, motion graphics and web design in a variety of enviroments and mediums. My very first commercial job was in 1992 creating a handdrawn logo for the seminal Heavy Metal radio show on KUNM called Tombstone Rock.

After repeated forays into the food and beverage business where I worked in nearly every capacity barring stripper or bus boy, I decided my true heart lay in design and development and decided to wrap up my bachelors degree at UNM. In 2006 I graduated from the Media Arts department following 4 semesters on the Dean List and at graduation I recieved the Media Arts departments highest award, the Michael Costello Service Award.

Following graduation I founded the Orphic Workshop, with 3 partners. Created to fill a need in the Albuquerque metro market for an affordable one stop information technology firm. Since September of 2006 we have worked with over 100 clients and developed over 30 websites.

design sensibilties

In about 2000 while doing some admittedly amateur web design projects I found Jakob Nielsen's work and almost became a full fledged acolyte but could never get past his distinct dislike for graphics or most ilks. At this point I decided to follow just outside of his realm of usability and to create sites that were both attractive AND had great architecture and usability. I can say that I'm successful at this more often than not.

Other less boring things about me:

I'm a certified chef
I restore vintage Italian Scooters
I have a rad wife and awesome dogs
I like to rock
